Hace dos años hice un viaje en Ucrania que entre otras cosas consistió en una visita turística de la flota del mar Negro en Sebastopol. Una serie de documentos y escritos encontrados posteriormente así como el libro de Lev Tolstói, Relatos de Sebastopol, hablan de la gran importancia estratégica de la península de Crimea.
Aunque Ucrania declaró la independencia el 24 de agosto 1991 al principio Rusia no reconoció la soberanía ucraniana sobre Crimea, arguyendo además que la ciudad jamás había estado integrada en Ucrania al estar sujeta al estatus de base militar. De acuerdo con un tratado de 1997 la flota rusa del mar Negro sigue estando situada en la ciudad lo cual esta deteriorando las relaciones entre los dos países.
La intención de este proyecto es realizar un videoensayo que cuestione la importancia del turismo militar, intereses político - económicos y paralelamente desvela los hechos históricos y del presente vinculados a los intereses geoestratégicos en la zona.

Two years ago I did a trip to Ukraine and visit, with a group of tourists, the Black Sea Fleet. A series of documents and writings that I found later on, like a book of Lev Tolstoy, Sevastopol Sketches, speak about a great strategic importance of the Crimean peninsula. Although Ukraine declared the independence on 24th of August, 1991, in the beginning Russia didn’t recognize the Ukrainian sovereignty on Crimea, arguing that the city was never integrated in the Ukraine because of its military base status. According to the treaty of 1997, the Russian Fleet is still based in the city and this causes a deterioration of relations between the two countries. The intention of this project is to realize a videoessay that questions the importance of military tourism, economic interests and at the same time reveals some of the historical and present facts related to geostrategic importance of the zone.
